An international halal industry exhibition is preparing to open its doors in the Bosnian capital from Sept. 27 to 29.

The Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) which will be held for the first time in Sarajevo, is expected to host around 100 exhibitors from 30 countries.

Anadolu Agency is the global communication partner for the three-day event which is organized by Bosna Bank International (BBI).

The fair will enable the participants from the Balkan countries, including Serbia, Slovenia and Albania, as well as from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Malaysia and the EU countries to introduce halal food products.

Amer Bukvic, the CEO of BBI, told Anadolu Agency that the preparations are at the final stage and the event will exceed expectations.

Emphasizing the great interest in the fair, Bukvic said: "Nine days after, we will host many important guests across the world.”

The halal food industry addresses almost a billion people across the world, the CEO stated, adding the fair is for the advantage of the region, as well as the host country.

The halal food industry has a huge market. In this context, Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina can become significant destinations for transporting their products to the west and the east, and from the east to the west, as well," Bukvic said.

Damir Alihodzic, the head of Agency for Halal Quality Certification in Bosnia and Herzegovina, underscored the importance of the fair for the Bosnia’s economy.

"The halal food producers here will have the opportunity to introduce their products. This will be beneficial for both consumers and producers from other countries,” he said.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 90 firms have halal food certificates, while more than 130 producers and over 7,000 products have halal food certificates in the region, Alihodzic added.
